Ways and Means Committee

Judy Bushey reported on the following;

              Yankee Candles ARE In!

               Judy, Sharron and Susan will distribute next week.  Other volunteers are welcomed.

               Tony picked the names of the sales contest:

                  Sam Laulis and Jennifer Antonelli won $20 each for selling the most candles overall.

                  Kim McLeod won $25 for selling 5 or more candles

                  Michelle Cady won $15 for selling at least one candle.

  • Pancake Breakfast April 19, 2008  8:00-11:00a.m. before the Spring Boutique.  The cost is$5 per breakfast.  Admission to the Boutique is free with breakfast purchase.  Tickets will be sold at the Music Man performances.
  • Vera Bradley Bingo May 3, 2008 at 6:00p.m. Tickets are on sale now.  Some bags still need to be sponsored and filled.  Volunteers are also needed for the event. Contact John if you can help or have ideas for bag “themes”.  Signs need to be made and set up for advertising.  Tickets will be sold at The Music Man performances, the Pancake Breakfast/Spring Boutique and the Pops Concert.  Flyers need to be posted at local businesses and left at other bingos as well as possibly placing an ad in the newspaper.  A sign or banner on the back of the baseball fence was also suggested by Deanne.  The bingo machine has been reserved.
  • Banner Sales are in progress.  Marty M., Scott and John have formulated a plan, compiled a list of possible businesses and are working through a “sponsorship program” which will give back to the sponsor in appreciation for monies spent.
  • Guitar Hero Tournament  Has been postponed for logistical reasons.  This fundraiser will be pursued in the near future.
  • GL Scrip card program. Current POC is Judy Bushey/Suzanne Reamer. A list of all participating businesses is available at www.glscrip.com. A discussion was held to determine if limiting the cards to particular businesses (e.g. AHOLD finance/Martins) would be more cost effective.  Susan Stephy is considering taking on this responsibility.  This fundraiser has the possibility of ongoing success but needs to be better promoted.

Liaison Report

  • Choral-Dawn and Cara- Although the program did well at Eistedfod, it is currently struggling for membership.  Classes for next year may be cancelled due to lack of interest.  Tony shared that Jeff Rodgers is aware of the problem.  There is a great need to step up recruitment for ALL music programs.  A recruiting effort will be made at the SMS music programs held at Century on May 12&13.
  • Band/Orchestra-Marty M/Jennifer Wise-neither present at meeting
