Secretary’s Report
Sharron Antolick read June’s minutes and they were approved by Jim and Colleen Kelley. No meeting was held in July due to summer vacations.
Treasurer’s Report
John Bushey presented the budget. The original budget projects are continually being updated to accommodate the year’s actual expenditures.
We are currently $15 K over our predicted income, largely due to the loss of the USSBA State Competition at Century.
More fundraising ideas are needed to make up for this deficit
Tony, Scott and Derrick will work through the budget.
An executive Board meeting was held last week to address the budget issues
Our investments continue to do well.
Music Director’s Report/Choral Director’s Report
Derrick Askew addressed the membership. Said we still need about 5 more members for the current MB season drill as written. He has been talking to the student leadership for ideas.
Numbers are up this year, so there will be Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra (largest to date), Honors Wind Ensemble and Stage Band.
Master classes were discussed if finances are available.
Uniform fittings need to be done
Jim made a suggestion to tag those uniforms that are not used so they are not cleaned unnecessarily. Derrick will be responsible for finding someone to do fittings.
Melissa Adelmann discussed her requests for the year which include new robes, a trip to NYC and show choir. Fundraising options were discussed as were additions to the budget to include chorus.
Coffey Music Night Bob Coffey will pay for remaining mugs. Need to pick a date soonest! Possibly November, need student bands to draw crowds. Need to advertise now.
Cookbooks are still available. We have about 100 left. Making profit at this point.
Yankee Candle, Sub Night, Candy Bars, Magazine Sales are potential fundraisers this year. Being thinking of new ideas. We need them!
GL Scrip card program Yielding steady profits. POC is Mary Laulis. A list of all participating businesses is available at www.glscrip.com. Mary can be reached at mlaulis@verizon.net. Orders will be placed the last Wednesday of every month so that cards may be distributed at the following Thursday Booster meeting. It is very easy to place an online order and use PrestoPay (which deducts the card total from your checking account. There is a $0.39 charge to use PrestoPay.) Otherwise, simply order online using our code: LF7L317611982 and put a check made out to CHS Music Boosters in the band room box for your total.
Clothing Sales Final orders are being being taken for jackets for new Marching Band students. Christine will coordinate clothing sales for Freshman Orientation (Christine and Laura) and Back to School Night (Christine, Judy and Sharron)

Choral-Dawn- Not present
Band/Orchestra-Liaisons not present.
Marching Band-Jim Kelly provided info on the USSBA Home Show to be held Saturday, September 26th starting at 4:00pm. This show is not expected to be as lucrative as a Championship show since we incur the judging expenses. Right now we have 14 bands registered and will cap the show at 16. Trying to schedule larger bands first to help with concession sales
E mails have been sent to local college bands but all had football conflicts that day.
Jim is negotiating for the State Championship Show next year.
USSBA may pay a stipend for volunteers at shows at Towson and Naval Academy. Jim will look into this as a potential fund raiser.
Parent Preview Picnic for Marching Band will be held August 21st at 5:30. Judy, Sharron and Christine will coordinate.
