Call to Order
- The
Music Boosters meeting was called to order at 7:30p.m. by Tony Caracciolo.
Secretary’s Report
- Sharron
A presented a summary of last month’s minutes. The minutes are available at www.knightsmusic.org. A motion to accept the minutes for the
March meeting was made by Scott Stewart and seconded by Jennifer Wise.
Treasurer’s Report
- Scott
Stewart presented the budget. There
is still an outstanding Transportation Fee of approximately $7000. Mr. Askew has still not obtained an
itemized bill for services as requested at the March 6 Booster Meeting.
Therefore, Scott Stewart will obtain an itemized bill for services from
Johnson Transportation. This needs
to be done before the bill can be settled.
·
A miscommunication between Mr. Askew, Joe Le Roux of FFP and the Music
Boosters resulted in having the Music Boosters pay FFP for services rendered 3
months earlier that expected. The
Carroll County Public Schools were not involved in this transaction. No contract between FFP and CCPS currently
exists as previously discussed and deemed necessary by the Music Boosters. Therefore, the Music Boosters will proceed in
“good faith” and compensate FFP for previously agreed upon services.
- There
is a current total deficit of $497.58.
Deb Ruark approved the current budget and Marty Mankowski seconded.
Music Director’s Report/Choral Director’s Report
- Derrick
Askew and Rob Materra were not
present at tonight’s meeting.
- Heather
Caporaso stated that a Chorus class would be dropped next year due to lack
of enrollment. She informed the
Boosters that Chorus is considered a “club” and she will investigate
opportunities to schedule activities after school for those students who
are interested, but cannot fir Chorus into their class schedules. Ms. Caporaso wants to learn more about
how she can help with fundraising and expressed her appreciation for what
the Boosters are doing to help her financially manage her programJ. She will help the Boosters in any way
she can, just ask.
Ways and Means Committee
- The Pancake Breakfast netted a
total profit of $110.00. Thank you
Judy and kitchen crew for all your hard work! Scheduling another breakfast for late
fall/early winter as well as a possible spaghetti dinner was also
discussed.
- Vera Bradley Bingo May 3, 2008 at
6:00p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
All bags are sponsored and filled.
Volunteers are still needed for the event. Signs have been made and set up for
advertising. Flyers are posted at
local businesses and an ad has been placed in the newspaper. Mo Ruark will call and Steve Stephy
will assist. The Bingo board has
been obtained. Ticket sales are
currently slow, so we need to focus on increasing sales.
- The Pops Concert was cancelled on
short notice due by Mr. Askew.
Advertising to the papers/local assisted living centers were
cancelled. Flyers were taken down
from local businesses. Mr. Askew was to place a notice on the Century
doors stating the Concert was cancelled.
- Banner Sales are in progress. Marty M., Scott, Jim and John have
formulated a plan and compiled a list of possible businesses within a 2
mile radius of our zip code and all companies currently providing services
to the Music Boosters. OCS has been
contacted about doing a mass mailing of banner info to these
businesses. Sponsorship levels and
annual/perpetual gifts are being discussed. Banners will remain in place for a
one-year period. A mock banner was
suggested as an example.
Sponsorship “bundles” are being developed due to the cost of the
banners. Music students should be
encouraged to help in person with the sales.
- PDP was tabled as a fundraiser at
this time. This event or one
similar to it may be pursued in the fall of 2008.
- GL Scrip card program. Current POC
is Judy Bushey/Suzanne Reamer. A list of all participating businesses is

program! This fundraiser has the possibility of ongoing success but needs
to be better promoted.
Liaison Report
- Choral-Dawn-
Flowers were donated and sold at the Chorus/Orchestra Concert…. Thanks
Dawn! In the future, it would be
helpful to let the parents know that flowers will be available for purchase.
It was suggested that flowers be available for purchase at the two
upcoming Middle School Spring Concerts at Century on May 12th
and 13th as a fundraiser and a recruiting strategy. Tony will request to speak to the
audience prior to the Concerts and Sharron will e mail Mrs. Paulsgrove and
Miss Adolphson about flower sales and sending home flyers about the
flowers to parents ahead of time.
- Band/Orchestra-Marty
M-Suggested putting together a list of potential private instructors. Can the instructors advertise and put a
logo on the Music Booster website for a fee? Scott and John will investigate
possibilities. Also suggested
expanding the Fall music program by utilizing County grants to bring in
Master instructors. Marty left a
message for the County Coordinator of this matter. Tony suggested having vendors come in
and speak to the students. The
Boosters will also offer to help Mr. Askew with further
professionalization of programs and staging. Nancy stated there was no interest in
Patron Ads. Specific e-mail lists
of each music program would prove helpful in this matter. Student liaisons from each music program
were discussed.
- Marching
Band-Jim Kelly-not present at meeting
- Historians-Teri
McLeod , Maureen Stewart In the process of gathering photos, yearbooks,
videos etc. for the Senior Farewell.
An E-mail asking for input was be sent to all parents of students
in the Music Program but no photos, videos ect. have been received to
date. Mr. Askew has been e mailed regarding a possible date and time for
the Senior Farewell, but has not responded to date. Will there be a Senior
Farewell? Tony said we need to
celebrate the Seniors for all their efforts and the group agreed. Maureen and Terri will do something to
recognize the seniors but need help/support from the music faculty and
Century administration to do so. A
breakfast in the cafeteria during Wednesday advisory time on May 21st
or 28th was discussed.
They will consult with Judy Bushey.
They will send an email to the parents of seniors only to request
help and input. Ms. Caporaso will
take on the Senior Awards on Scholarship Night, June 5th. She offered to put together award
packets.
Scholarship Committee
