seconded by Judy.
Treasurer’s Report
Scott Stewart presented the budget. The original budget
projects are continually being updated to accommodate the year’s actual
expenditures.
- Scott
discovered that Fidelity Funds have a lower expense ration than
Susquehanna. He reported that
overall “risk tolerance” has changed and now face increased financial risk
due to the current uncertain economy.
He suggested “spreading our financial risk” but investing in two
mutual funds. Discussion regarding
“should we invest at this time” was held.
The Boosters will need to access funds in 4 ½ years to purchase new
uniforms. Should we invest
approximately 7K? Tony and Scott
were given the go aheadd to do what makes sense for the organization.
- There are currently about $1000 in
outstanding Marching Band fees
- Banner
sales netted $1770, approximately $1200 short of our goal.
- Program
Ads came up $1000 less than budgeted.
- Marty
is currently still trying to sell banners separately due to the economy.
- GL
script did well last month….
brought in about $800.
- Derrick
needs to submit individual requisitions for payment of Marching Band
staff.
- Jim
Kelley motioned to approve the treasurer’s report and Isabel seconded.
Music Director’s Report/Choral Director’s Report
- Derrick
Askew, Heather Caparaso and Nancy Thompson suggested not sponsoring an
overnight trip this year due to the current state of the economy. A day trip that includes a performance
will be researched.
- Derrick
stated that he has high expectations for wind ensemble and orchestra is
doing “exceedingly well”. He is
also impressed with Symphonic Band and Marching Band is currently in full
swing.
- Derrick
shared that he recently met with regional music staff, grades k-12, and
said the meeting had positive implications for Century’s music program.
- Winter
performances are as follows: December 10th Bands, December 18th
Chorus and Orchestra
- Tony
said that Marty volunteered to coordinate efforts for both performances.
- Heather
shared there will be 12 Choral selections in the winter performance. The group is about 2/3 of the size of
last year’s group, is “really dedicated” and has an equal balance of men
and women.
- Dawn

- Auditions
for Pit musicians for this year’s musical “Oliver!’ will take place the
first week in December. Rob Materra
